My name is Frank Horvat.  I am a pianist, composer, and teacher from Toronto. I would like to invite you to the Regina stop of the Green Keys Tour on Saturday, October 2, 7:30PM, at Westminster United Church, 3025 13th Avenue. Admission is free.

This family-friendly concert is one of 50+ in a yearlong cross-Canada tour promoting eco-sustainability. All the piano music performed is my original compositions and improvisations. It's a mix of classical and popular styles - from Liszt to Satie to Philip Glass. The highlight of the concert is the performance of my composition, "Earth Hour" - a continuous 1-hour piano piece inspired by, and performed in the dark.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of my new CD, "A Little Dark Music", goes to the World Wildlife Fund - CDs available online and at the show. The Saskatoon Public School Division (SPSD) and the University of Saskatchewan (School of Environment and Sustainability) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding promoting collaboration to advance curriculum and program development on Education for Sustainable Development. Students will be introduced to opportunities to advance environmental sustainability and social justice. Interdisciplinary courses at Aden Bowman Collegiate honouring all learning styles and focusing on social awareness and active citizenship will be highlighted. The event at Aden Bowman (1904 Clarence Avenue) will commence at 1:10 p.m. with the official signing of the MOU at 2:00 p.m. It will conclude with a Saskatoon Public School Division Pre-launch Tour of the VerEco Home at the Western Development Museum at 3:45 p.m. The VerEco Home is Canada's first Net Zero Home Exhibit (that is, a home having an annual net energy consumption of zero). SPSD is currently working on a partnership with VerEco Home to advance its curricular ties with local sustainability initiatives.
