The Saskatoon Public School Division (SPSD) and the University of Saskatchewan (School of Environment and Sustainability) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding promoting collaboration to advance curriculum and program development on Education for Sustainable Development. Students will be introduced to opportunities to advance environmental sustainability and social justice. Interdisciplinary courses at Aden Bowman Collegiate honouring all learning styles and focusing on social awareness and active citizenship will be highlighted. The event at Aden Bowman (1904 Clarence Avenue) will commence at 1:10 p.m. with the official signing of the MOU at 2:00 p.m. It will conclude with a Saskatoon Public School Division Pre-launch Tour of the VerEco Home at the Western Development Museum at 3:45 p.m. The VerEco Home is Canada's first Net Zero Home Exhibit (that is, a home having an annual net energy consumption of zero). SPSD is currently working on a partnership with VerEco Home to advance its curricular ties with local sustainability initiatives.
