During the past two decades UN Agencies have individually and collectively supported a vast range of worldwide initiatives for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) globally. Greater knowledge of emerging best practices in education for SCP and identification of underlying success factors is a starting point for achieving widespread replication and mainstreaming of SCP, which is in turn conditional for advancing sustainable development and addressing urgent environmental and resource challenges at global, regional and local scales. This learning event aspires to showcase best educational practices for fostering SCP as seen from both business and developmental viewpoints. Lead experts will first introduce best practice examples of education for SCP from three perspectives--higher education, local economic development and green industry--and provide insight into both barriers encountered and key factors required for success. The remainder of the session will then be reserved for a focused panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges of scaling-up and mainstreaming best practices in SCP. This will also allow for an extensive learning interaction between participants and presenters who will address any questions and concerns participants might have in regard to interpreting and implementing SCP.
