Open Access Week Events at the University of Regina

First session: Open Access: What Is It? Speakers: Drs. Alec Couros and Patrick Lewis (Faculty of Education, University of Regina) Date: Monday, October 24 Time: 2:00 - 3:00 pm Place: Dr. John Archer Library, Archives/Special Collections Reading Room (107.4) main floor   The lecture will be streamed live at http://www.uregina.ca/library/live/.  Drs. Couros and Lewis will help define OA, identify issues and trends including submitting research to OA publications and its impact on traditional methods of publishing research.  Dr. Couros is an associate editor and Dr. Lewis is the editor-in-chief of an OA journal called in education http://ineducation.ca/.   Free refreshments will be served afterwards.  More information is at http://www.uregina.ca/events/?m=10&y=2011&d=24&id=358&cat=    ==================================================================   Second session: The Open Access Authors Fund at the University of Calgary: History and Evaluation Speaker: Andrew Waller (University of Calgary) Date: Wednesday, October 26 Time: 2:00 to 3:00 pm Place: Dr. John Archer Library, Archives/Special Collections Reading Room (107.4) main floor   Andrew Waller is the Licensing and Negotiation Librarian and OA Librarian at the University of Calgary's Scholarly Communication Centre.  He is responsible for his institution's OA Author's Fund which was the first of its kind in Canada and is the sixth in the world.  Mr. Waller is an editor for library and information science repository (E-LIS E-prints) that holds over 12,000 OA publications http://ineducation.ca/.  Andrew will discuss his institution's involvement with OA and how other institutions could participate.    Free refreshments will be served afterwards.  More information is at http://www.uregina.ca/events/?m=10&y=2011&d=26&id=360&cat=
