Job Title: Pesticide Reduction Eco-Advisor
Organization: The Saskatchewan Environmental Society (SES)
Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Term: 35 hours per week
Compensation: $12/hr
Dates: May 3, 2010 – August 27, 2010
INTRODUCTION
The Saskatchewan Environmental Society is a non-profit, registered charity whose mandate is to work towards a world in which all needs can be met in sustainable ways. We work with, and on behalf of, communities, organizations, businesses and policy makers to encourage informed decision-making that moves us towards sustainability. We undertake research, and use education, community outreach, consultation opportunities and demonstration projects to provide the people of Saskatchewan the information and tools they need to make and to support these informed decisions.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position will work along with the Pesticide Reduction Coordinator in implementing the 2010 Pesticide Reduction Project. The Project objectives are to:
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Administer pesticide surveys to 400 households;
· Following up with those households involved with the Pesticide Reduction initiative;
· Work as an eco-advisor in helping to control lawn and garden pest issues;
· Data entry and internet research;
· Setting up and staffing displays at events
QUALIFICATIONS
· Work or volunteer experience in a non-profit setting;
· Landscaping or gardening experience an asset
· Post secondary education in a relevant field (environment, education, biology etc.);
· Excellent verbal communication;
· Excellent computer and internet research skills;
