CALL FOR PAPERS

International Conference on Technology Transfer

and Renewable Energy  (ICTTRE) 2012

http://www.direkt-project.eu/conference-technology-transfer-renewable-energy/conference-renewable-energy-climate-change-structure.html

Mauritius, 21 - 22 June 2012

Background and Aims:

The project “Small Developing Island Renewable Energy Knowledge and Technology Transfer Network” (DIREKT) is a cooperation scheme involving universities from Germany, Fiji, Mauritius, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago with the aim of strengthening the science and technology capacity in the field of renewable energy of a sample of ACP (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific) small island developing states, by means of technology transfer, information exchange and networking. Developing countries are especially vulnerable to problems associated with climate change and much can be gained by raising their capacity in the field of renewable energy, which is a key area.

In the context of the project DIREKT, the International Conference on Technology Transfer and Renewable Energy  (ICTTRE) 2012 is being organized, being  hosted by the University of Mauritius. This conference aims to:

To provide universities of ACP countries and other areas with an opportunity to display and present their research activities and work on renewable energy;

To promote the exchange of information, ideas and experiences acquired in the execution of projects and technology transfer activities on renewable energy;

To discuss methodological approaches and projects which aim at integrating the topic of sustainable and renewable energy in support of national projects and in the implementation of renewable energy action plans.

Furthermore, the event will provide a unique opportunity for publishing the work of the participants in refereed journals, since provisions for this will be made.

Structure of the Event

The International Conference on Technology Transfer and Renewable Energy will be organized in two main strands:

Strand 1: the displays

Participating universities and organizations will be able to put-up displays describing their works and projects and to distribute the relevant information to the participants. The displays will be the backbone of the event and will allow close, one-to-one contacts between the participants and the exhibitors.

Strand 2: the presentations

A set of presentations will be organized, dealing with issues of strategic value in the field of renewable energy in ACP countries.

Publication of Accepted Papers

A special issue of the peer-reviewed journals:

“Management of Environment Quality” (MEQ),

“International Journal of Environment and Sustainable Development” (IJSED) and

“International Journal of Innovation and Sustainable Development” (IJISD)

will be produced, with selected papers from the conference.
