Buying local produced food makes cents.
We have operated our farm / ranch operation now for 28 years, but have just recently realized the benefits consumers are looking for in buying locally. Being able to identify what it is they are putting on their plate, moreover where that food came from and how it got to their table is becoming a big focus for our customers. We specialize in producing "Grass Finished Beef" which has huge health benefits when compared to grain finished beef, Higher CLA and balanced levels of Omega 3 / Omega 6 fatty acids being the frontrunner health benefits. We regularly supply our "Grass Finished Beef " at a Farmer's Market in Saskatoon, and in doing so, have realized that our customers like the idea of knowing where their food comes from. Simply being at the market and letting our customers know what we produce, has opened the door to supplying them with other foods we have--for instance we've now marketed both our lentil and kabuli chickpea (just by letting the customer know we grow them). We are blessed in Saskatchewan to have clean air and water, rich soil along with the crops and livestock to produce some of the healthiest food available on the planet.
It is a pleasure to be able to provide good nutrition to our fellow man, which we do nationally and internationally through regular marketing channels, however there is special reward to meet the people in person , or contact through the web, who will be putting our produce on their plate. For information on our place or our Grass Finished Beef, visit our website www.castleland.org or by all means drop us an email if you'd be interested in local Saskatchewan Produced Food. email castleland@xplornet.com
It makes sense to buy local, and more often than not, it makes Cents as well. Buying local takes a little more effort on the part of the consumer, but the tradeoff is well worth it in the product quality received , and the relationships they will develop.
