The UNESCO World Conference on ESD held in Bonn, Germany from March 29, 2009 to April 2, 2009 brought together 147 countries and 700 invited delegates that focused on "Moving into the Second Half of the Un Decade on Education for Sustainable Development". As a result of these meetings, the BONN DECLARATION was signed by ALL countries and member states of UNESCO. The BONN DECLARATION focused on the following: "Why is ESD relevant? What can we learn from each other? What have we achieved so far and what are the lessons learned? Finally, where do want to go from this world conference in the remaining half of the decade?"
The BONN DECLARATION outlined the next steps that will provide our RCE Saskatchewan the opportunity to review the same questions from this
unique world conference while looking at the "next steps" outlined for RCE Saskatchewan to consider as we "Spring into ACTION" on June 8 and 9, 2009 in Saskatoon, using the Bonn Declaration as our "Spring Board". Further specific informtion including an Executive Summary and the BONN Declaration can be found at www.esd-world-conference-2009.org/en/home.html
